We offer over 604 renovated guest rooms and more than 40,000 square feet of event space, including the 10,000-square foot Grand Ballroom, two boardrooms and 18 additional meeting rooms. Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking for a Full-Time Events Banquet Captain

Position Summary: As a hotel banquet captain, you manage the banquet servers, bartenders, and event set-up staff and operations during banquets and other hotel events. Your main goal is to ensure guest satisfaction and exceed expectations by acting as a liaison between many different parties, including the sales manager, event host, guests, chefs, kitchen staff, and more.
The successful candidate is bilingual, with the ability to speak and hear in both Spanish and English language, understands the importance of performing essential job duties and delivering quality guest service with professionalism, while maintaining a high sense of urgency.
Scheduling: This is a Full-Time position that requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs. The schedule will change based on events, and will include both AM and PM shifts, to support operational requirements.
Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Oversee event set-up and supervise banquet staff, ensuring the event's set up, food, and service strictly follows the functions BEO.
Explains how various menu items are prepared, cooking methods and ingredients to staff and guest alike.
Takes into special consideration for any special request, allergies and dietary issues listed on BEO
Greet guest as they arrive; provides general property information and offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests
Interacts with staff in a professional manner, assisting event staff and other departments with necessary information
Ensures final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guests
Monitors assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional service
Addresses any guest issue promptly and with high concern, and immediately informing kitchen and manager
Follow sanitary rules and food safety regulations
Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons).

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements as needed.

Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs moving server trays and glassware up to 50 lbs.
Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.
Knowledge of key guest service behaviors.
Enjoy working with others - this position not only interfaces daily with hotel guests and team members in banquets, but with the kitchen, engineering, guest relations, sales, and many different hotel associates.
Experience
Previous experience in the position of banquet captain or similar role.
Previous experience in events set-up.
Licenses or Certificates.
Ability to provide or obtain the Texas Food Safety Handler Certificate.
Ability to provide or obtain the Texas TABC Certification License.

Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs moving server trays and glassware up to 50 lbs.
Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.
Knowledge of key guest service behaviors.
Enjoy working with others - this position not only interfaces daily with hotel guests and team members in banquets, but with the kitchen, engineering, guest relations, sales, and many different hotel associates.
Experience
Previous experience in the position of banquet captain or similar role.
Previous experience in events set-up.
Licenses or Certificates.
Ability to provide or obtain the Texas Food Safety Handler Certificate.
Ability to provide or obtain the Texas TABC Certification License.

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
