Job Title: Controller, Americas
Overall Responsibility:
Oversee accounting operations and provide IFRS/GAAP guidance for the Americas
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Manage all corporate accounting functions for the Americas including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, cost & inventory accounting and reconciliations
Be the subject matter expert on revenue recognition, lease accounting and current GAAP/IFRS topics
Prepare and publish timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including ensuring all inter-company transactions are recorded appropriately
Assume the lead role in month-end and year-end close process
Collaborate with the external auditors for annual audit work & coordinating the annual physical inventory
Maintain an effective system of internal controls over financial transactions and financial reporting
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
Work with third-party income tax preparers to ensure accurate and timely income filings (federal and state)
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to ensure consistency and efficiency in operations
Drive effective cash management through best practices in collections and payables as well as lead short-term cash flow forecasting for the Americas
Manage a small team across multiple accounting functions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial strategy and decision-making
Skills and Attributes:
Communication - ability to explain financial results, verbally and written, in terms that assist leadership in understanding and improving business performance
Analytical - ability to analyze trends and identify drivers of variances.
Process improvement ability to drive process improvement through end-to-end process analyses as well as automation opportunities
Organization- ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Management ability to establish clear and specific goals to manage team performance
Experience Required:
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or a related field
CPA certification required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience required, including proven experience in a finance leadership role
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or proficiency in similar accounting software strongly preferred
Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) or proficiency in a similar financial consolidation and reporting tool strongly preferred
Experience with multi-currency accounting for transactions and translations
Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
