Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled travel Rad Tech to join our talented team. As a Radiation Therapist at WTCP, you will have the opportunity to contribute to patient care and improve their outcomes. The location is in Fairbanks, AK

The working schedule for this role is 8 hours, Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm

The duration is 5 weeks as a contractor

The start date for this role is December 2, 2024

On-call requirements: only for radiation emergency (rare, usually before or after shifts)

Vacation Requirements: Unit is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Open for a half day on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

Floating requirements: none

Key Responsibilities:

The Radiation Therapist is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other medical conditions

Working closely with oncologists and other medical staff, the Radiation Therapist ensures the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy while providing compassionate care and support to patients throughout their treatment process

Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment

Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans

Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, such as linear accelerators

Accurately position patients for treatment, ensuring comfort and safety

Monitor patients during treatments for any adverse reactions and report concerns to the medical team

Educate patients and their families about the treatment process, potential side effects, and aftercare

Maintain accurate records of treatment sessions and patient progress.

Follow strict safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and oneself from radiation exposure

Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous education to stay updated on advancements in radiation therapy

Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients throughout their treatment journey

Qualifications:

State license as required

2+ years of experience as Radiation Therapist, travel experience, and experience with Varian TrueBeam equipment

Experience Preferred: 4+ years of Radiation Therapist experience

BLS and ARRT

Strong understanding of radiation safety and physics

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately follow treatment plans

Compassionate and patient-focused, with the ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism
