Job Description
The Director, Medical & Scientific Learning Excellence (MSLE) will work in close collaboration with the relevant stakeholders from across Medical Affairs and Health Economics Research (MA&HEOR) to develop and execute comprehensive learning and training resources on disease state, product, and treatment landscape. For assigned/prioritized therapeutic area(s), indication(s), and asset(s), the Director will incorporate adult learning principles and leverage evidence-based cognitive learning principles to develop robust learning plans and curricula for Global Pipeline, US, and International teams within MA&HEOR.
The Director is expected to lead planning, development, and delivery of scientific learning for internal stakeholders across MA&HEOR. Building and establishing strong partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to advance internal medical and scientific knowledge will be key to the role. They will be responsible for the development of learning content and experiences across the product(s) lifecycle phases. Deliverables will include self-paced learning modules, live and virtual training engagement, and tools to enhance scientific knowledge retention. An ability to work collaboratively within a matrix organization is critically important to successfully develop and deploy the valued and impactful scientific learning in a consistent and efficient way that maximizes synergies and minimizes duplication across MA&HEOR.
The MSLE Director will contribute to the overall vison, strategy, and approach to medical and scientific learning across the indications and assets that fall under their Therapeutic Area (TA). The MSLE Director will be expected to collaborate with their peers to drive alignment and consistency for medical and scientific learning outputs.
The Director will be expected to develop strong and effective partnerships with colleagues from within the broader MSLE team. In addition, it will be imperative that close working relationships are forged with relevant colleagues from international and US commercial learning teams, as appropriate. The Director will drive advancement of medical and scientific learning, from onboarding through ongoing learning, for the purpose of achieving and maintaining expert level scientific knowledge reflective of the associated medical strategy for their assigned area(s) of therapeutic and asset focus.
Responsibilities
Leads overarching evolution, strategy, and execution of medical and scientific learning resources and learner experiences for a specific TA
Collaborates with identified individual(s) within designated therapeutic team to gain clarity on TA learning needs and develop Integrated Learning Plans (ILP) aligned to these needs
Utilizes adult learning principles during the planning, stakeholder alignment, and build-out of medical and scientific learning content for disease state, product, and treatment landscape
Partners with relevant colleagues involved in medical and scientific learning from across Global Pipeline, US, and International (including areas and affiliates) to ensure relevance of learning deliverables and consistency of offerings across the various MA&HEOR groups
Ensures timely and efficient development and delivery of medical and scientific learning content/training related to disease state, product (including pipeline and enterprise-critical assets), and treatment landscape
Orchestrates, develops, and executes a learning path using a blended learning approach which includes self-paced interactive modules, live (in-person and virtual) workshops, multimedia (e.g., podcasts/videos) and knowledge retention tools, leveraging a common learning platform (The Academy)
Aligns and works collaboratively with the Leadership Development and Capabilities team to ensure a synthesized approach that reflects a combination of scientific and capabilities focus within the onboarding curriculum
Pilots and leads innovative new learning techniques, digital and virtual technologies and modalities to advance scientific learning curricula across entire MSLE team
Reviews and critically assesses the impact of deliverables (learning plans, learning content, learner engagement) to gain insights that will inform and enhance future outputs
Expected to be able to travel up to 20% of time, as required by the role and areas of responsibility
