Position Description :

Looking for a career where you can make a difference every day? Discover this opportunity to become a Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator in Austin, Texas!  Shifts are Sunday thru Wednesday, 12:00pm to 10:30pm.  Starting pay is $19.00/hr.

Serco supports the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in their initiative to improve the operations of the TMC and improve coordination with partners in responding to incidents on the roads.  We achieve this goal with an experienced and highly trained team of TMC Operators.

You will be part of a team that works closely with TxDOT personnel statewide, local law enforcement and other first responders daily.

As a TMC Operator, you can expect to:

Monitor video images for the detection and verification of crashes, debris, abandoned or disabled vehicles, and hazardous or non-hazardous spills.

Dispatch and communicate with Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) personnel via radio or telephone using standard protocol to the locations of road hazards and crashes, providing clear directions to the location and an accurate description of an incident as advised by citizens, public safety entities, or department personnel.

Log potential and confirmed incidents, construction and maintenance closures using ITS software.

Provide information or assistance to motorists, TxDOT personnel, or other agencies on traffic and road conditions; direct calls to appropriate personnel in traffic operations or take action as necessary.

Perform clear and concise record keeping, logging of required information, equipment checks, data gathering, and updating of manuals and contact lists that include all pertinent information

Complete the initial and “on-the-job” training programs under the supervision of, and monitored by, the Training Supervisor and Program Manager.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

High School diploma (GED)

0-2 years of customer support or equivalent experience within the last three years.

Available to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.

English-language speaking and writing skills to compose clear and concise sentences

Background clearance required for access to facility.

This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a preemployment criminal history check and drug screen.

Additional desired experience and skills:

Prefer fluent Spanish with the ability to receive, give and understand written and oral instructions.
