This position is responsible for precertification/prior authorization of all services ordered by practice providers prior to services being performed. In addition, this position is responsible for the scheduling of procedures (surgeries, cardiac diagnostics, etc.) or could be directed to do so. This position would also maintain the provider practice schedule, including blocking schedule for procedure time.

Overview of Responsibilities:

Schedule all Gastroenterology procedures, coordinating schedules with Gastroenterology providers, patients, and ROSE or Reid surgery departments.

Schedule all follow-up scopes determined by the provider.

Run medical necessity through Vitalware on all procedures.

Complete PRE SCOPE CHECK LIST

Request insulin and blood thinner plans when appropriate.

Request cardiac and pulmonary clearance when appropriate.

Verifies patient and insurance information when needed.

Confirms next day patient appointments by contacting patient reminding of appointment time, maintains correct availability of days and rescheduling as soon as possible.

Answer additional questions for patient as needed or provide appropriate resources.

Maintains all procedure schedules by scheduling patient based off convenience of patient, urgency and length of exam time required.

Education/Experience:

Education Required:  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Education Preferred:  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience Required:  None.

Experience Preferred: Minimum one-year front office experience preferred. Prior precertification/prior authorization experience.
