Overview:

With a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation, Lynker leverages cutting-edge technologies and scientific expertise to support the creation and delivery of improved operational weather forecasts.  As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, Lynker is seeking a part-time Subject Matter Expert for Observational Systems Simulation Experiments (OSSEs). 

Responsibilities:

Advise the Lynker business development team in observational systems simulation experiments (OSSEs) solutioning for various predictive earth systems science models, including satellite-based models. 

Assist with overall proposal review and technical writing.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Ph. D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Meteorology, Remote Sensing, or related field.

Minimum of 15+ years related work experience

At least 15+ years' experience working with satellite remote sensing datasets

At least 15+ years' experience working with numerical weather prediction

Knowledge of radiative transfer concepts

Knowledge of satellite data assimilation techniques

Knowledge of common satellite data and numerical model formats

Experience with severe weather dynamics and forecasting

Experience performing Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSE), Observing System Experiments (OSE), and studies of data assimilation activities
