CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our Power & Manufacturing – Generation & Energy Management Team at our office in Parsippany, NJ.

Our expertise encompasses gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, gas plants, biomass plants, coal-fired boiler plants, chiller plants, high-voltage substation, and more. From the early stages of master planning and permitting through comprehensive detailed design, we partner with our clients to create solutions that provide reliable, sustainable energy.

At CHA, our Commissioning Engineer provides advanced judgment and analysis techniques for the design development, implementation, and technical analysis of various systems to implement new products, or changes to an existing scheme, to suit individual client needs. This key role is responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of a project independently with other engineering disciplines and project management staff. The Commissioning Engineer mentors junior staff members and provides technical review of their work as needed.

The Commissioning Engineer recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures as well as selects proper procedures to self-check his/her own work for completeness and accuracy in technical reports and calculations. The professional in this role identifies, develops, and gathers technical resources necessary to complete assignments. This Commissioning Engineer continuously monitors the progress and performance of the engineering design development against the project work plan.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Minimum of 4 years of commissioning experience required

Experience with and strong understanding of HVAC systems, water-side and air-side systems and equipment, and testing of these systems

Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required

Certified Building Commissioning Professional preferred

Experience with life safety, plumbing, LEED, and envelope commissioning is a plus

General knowledge of, and the ability to commission, lighting, and power systems is a plus

Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with the proven ability to practically apply engineering best practices

Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn

Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)

Familiar with QA/QC procedures and understands basic business practices and laws related to engineering

Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and effectively work in a collaborative team environment, including willingness to assist more senior staff and direct junior staff on projects

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences

Proficiency with MS Office software required

Excellent time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines

Willing to occasionally work extra hours to meet clients demands and project schedules

Occasional travel to other states in the Northeast required

An active role in a professional engineering society/organization preferred

SALARY RANGE::

$95,000 - $111,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
