Responsibilities:
The Surgical Technician First Assistant to the surgeon during a surgical procedure, carries out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. The intra-operative practice of the First Assistant is interdependent with the operating surgeon.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Vocational diploma In Surgical Technology and over 1 year to 3 years experience required
Completion of a Surgical First Assistant course required
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to listen to others, required
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills, required
- Effective interpersonal skills, required
- Ability to work as part of a team, required
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, required
- Service-oriented, required
- Excellent organizational skills, required
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities, required
- Possesses strong technical aptitude, required
- Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems, required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CLINICAL\Surgical Tech – Certified, Upon hire, required
Basic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, required
