Responsibilities:
The RN First Assistant (RNFA) to the surgeon during a surgical procedure, carries out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. The intra-operative practice of the RN First Assistant is interdependent with the operating surgeon and functions in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and AORN standards.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's Degree in Nursing and over 1 year to 3 years Nursing Experience required
BSN preferred
Completion of a RNFA course preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to listen to others, required
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills, required
- Effective interpersonal skills, required
- Ability to work as part of a team, required
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, required
- Service-oriented, required
- Excellent organizational skills, required
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities, required
- Possesses strong technical aptitude, required
- Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems, required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Registered Nurse in PA – Licensed, Upon hire, required
NURSING\RN Perioperative Certification, Upon hire, required
Basic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, required
RN First Assist Certification, Upon hire, preferred
