Position Overview:

 The main function of the Radiation Safety Specialist position is to provide administrative support for the Radiation Safety functions such as coordination of documentation, Inventory control, source tracking, and maintaining other paperwork required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation, Agreement States, and Federal Aviation administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain radiation safety records and files ensuring confidentiality and compliance with record keeping requirements.

Compilation, coordination, and quality control review of utilization logs and all other corresponding documentation including monthly scanning and organization to provide support to Management for audit purposes.

Assist with tracking source locations, from receipt through disposal, and update internal logs and the National Source Tracking System to reflect all required movement per NRC regulations.

Assist with maintaining radioactive material inventory by following up with Division Managers, Regional Directors, Operations, Safety, and Quality personnel weekly, and updating source and camera locations as changes are reported.

Maintain weekly vault inventory and log of exposure devices for all offices.

Perform the T&R Process for new hires by gathering information needed for employee background checks, employment verifications, and reference checks, per NRC and other regulatory requirements to present to Corporate Radiation Safety Officer and ensure confidentiality by securing all documentation obtained.

Education and Work Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

5+ years of experience with Radiation Safety programs and federal / state license requirements preferred.

40 hour Radiation Safety training preferred, or ability to take course.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
