Job Summary

Title Examiner provides comprehensive title insurance coverage and professional services for purchases and refinances.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Coordinate multi-state title products.

Abstracting county records for residential properties in multiple states.

Examination of title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and to establish chain on title

Performs title examination of easy and/or moderate title orders requiring a moderate level of expertise.

Review title search reports and their documentation in a timely and thorough manner

Verify that the information in the title search and accompanying documentation is accurate and complete so they can provide accurate title information

Resolve any issues such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information contained in the title documentation

Abstract and analyze deeds, deeds of trust/mortgages, easements, judgments, tax assessments, judgments, and other applicable instruments

Verifying ownership and encumbrances of real property

Preparing professional reports as required

Reviewing reports for accuracy

Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required.  

Requirements

Minimum Education Experience:

High School graduate and 2 to 5 years’ experience residential abstracting and examining. 

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work in an accurate, detail-oriented, and highly productive manner. 

Working knowledge of basic real estate title concepts. 

Working knowledge of legal documents and how they affect title to real property. 

Familiarity with title insurance commitment and policy format and all procedures required to prepare same. 

Strong customer service-oriented individual with good verbal and written communication skills for interaction with a variety of people inside and outside of the organization. 

General administrative abilities should include typing, filing and use of computer, calculator, copier, and facsimile machines.
