Clinical Nurse ll (RN) – ICU

Full-time – Day Shift

UM Capital Regional Medical Center - Largo, MD

Up to $20,000 Sign On Bonus

UM Capital Region Health has  everything with the construction of UM Capital Region Medical Center, a new, state-of-the-art hospital facility. Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George's County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center offers improved access to primary and ambulatory care services, and serves as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. Our new space allows us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George's County residents.

In partnership with the University of Maryland Medical System, UM Capital Region Medical Center was built from the ground up to meet the changing needs of our community:

Heart & Vascular Institute with dedicated cardiac intensive care unit

Designated Stroke Center

Dedicated floor for Women's and Infants HealthLarge, private Labor & Delivery suites

Dedicated water birth room

Dedicated OB operating rooms

Special Care Nursery

Large, private postpartum rooms with large showers, bassinet and sleeping area for birth partner

Healing Garden

Level II Trauma Center

2 Helipads including one large enough to accommodate Marine One

24/7 emergency care with 41 treatment bays

Expanded surgical services capabilitiesDedicated cardiac OR

Dedicated trauma OR

Hybrid OR with in-room diagnostics

Orthopedic OR

Endoscopy Suites

Catheterization and electrophysiology labs

Interventional radiology

205 licensed beds in private rooms32 Bed intensive care unit

In and outpatient behavioral health

JOB SUMMARY:

This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months experience. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

Clinical Practice:

1. Provides independent care to unit specific patient population; serves as clinical resource for others, utilizes and integrates evidence into practice, functions effectively in roles specific to unit (as defined by each department/unit)

2. Accountable to patients and families for the processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care.

3. Accountable to peers for the advancement of group practice on the unit, and to the nurse manager for the totality of work performance.

4. Serves as an effective primary coordinating nurse; collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.

5. Serves as clinical resource for others.

Service/Quality:

Assists in team development and evaluation of tenants of Patient and Family Centered Care, suggests methods for improvement. Participates in collection of data related to outcomes (e.g. hand offs, medication safety, etc).

Participates in implementation efforts addressing Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI).

Participates and contributes to Performance Improvement, or Evidence Based Practice, or research at the unit level.
