About This Role
The Director, External Growth and Innovation – North America will identify and execute partnerships with organizations across the healthcare ecosystem (e.g.) to expand reach and improve the experience of patients living with rare neuromuscular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease and postpartum depression. You will also represent the North American business on any licensing, collaboration and M&A opportunities for novel therapeutics working closely with the Corporate Development team on evaluations and due diligences. You should have a strong understanding of the healthcare ecosystem with a mix of experiences working at or consulting for organizations such as health systems, patient advocacy groups, payers, digital health and biopharmaceutical companies with a focus on commercial strategy, corporate strategy and/or business development.
What You’ll Do
Healthcare Ecosystem Partnerships
• Keep a pulse on the market dynamics and key players across sectors of the healthcare ecosystem (e.g. retail pharmacy, digital health & integrated care delivery)
• Be a strategic thought partner with the North American Therapeutic Areas and North American Leadership Team to develop partnership use cases
• Identify external partners, build relationships and negotiate partnership agreements with legal, compliance and procurement approval
• Lead internal/external, cross-functional teams contributing to the execution of external partnership programs, providing periodic leadership updates including KPIs
• Foster and maintain relationships with leadership at strategic partners
• Be the internal champion for continued funding and support of ongoing partnerships
Inorganic Novel Therapeutics Growth Assessments
• Represent Biogen North America on Corporate Development led deal teams for therapeutic assets
• Proactively propose and reactively assess novel therapeutic licensing, acquisition, and alliance opportunities, co-promotions, etc. which advance and enhance Biogen North America’s position in the marketplace
• Assess growth opportunities, lead cross-functional evaluation and diligence teams for North America
• Develop Biogen North America perspective on deal models and demonstrate thought leadership, executive presence and influence with cross-functional partners
• Translate and communicate compelling business development & licensing opportunities to senior management
