The Director, Cost Accounting and Inventory is an internal role that reports directly to the Corporate Controller and works closely with various teams throughout the company. The Director, Cost Accounting and Inventory will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s cost accounting and inventory management functions and will lead a team of accounting professionals, collaborating with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance departments to analyze costs, monitor variances, and support business decisions.  This role will also support the monthly accounting close process as well as assist with the production of US GAAP financial statement and corresponding audits.

Responsibilities:

Experience leading a cost accounting department and own operational reporting/tracking of all manufacturing variances including PPV, material usage variance, labor/overhead variance.

Review current state processes to compile/track manufacturing variances and identify/action areas for improvement and automation.

Define set of standardized, centralized and automated metric calculations to be performed/reported monthly.

Prepare actual vs. budget analysis. Partner with operational finance to investigate/understand monthly actual to budget variances and resolve significant drivers.

Analyze actual production costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

Define cap & roll process and calculate/evaluate monthly.

Define annual standard cost setting process and critically evaluate current makeup of standard cost by item (e.g., allocation of shared plant costs to work centers, standardization by site).

Responsible for maintaining standard costs within the ERP.

Lead automation initiatives for the manufacturing execution system (MES) and integration with the ERP.

Perform month end close activities (profit in inventory, inventory in transit, inventory reconciliations etc.)

Lead and manage the global obsolete and excess inventory reserve process.

Assist in defining the global transfer price process and maintenance of transfer price tables within the ERP.

Represent Finance/Accounting on ad hoc projects related to cost accounting and global inventory.

Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.

Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.

Prepare estimates of new and proposed product or service costs. Recommend cost efficiencies in new product layouts.

Ensure validity and accuracy of data in ERP through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control, production and work order processing.

Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.

Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.

Responsible for audit deliverables related to global inventory and cost accounting.

Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.

10+ years of related experience; previous supervisory/leadership experience required.

Must have previous experience leading a cost accounting team. 

Advanced ERP experience required, JDE desired.

Experience with multi-national cost accounting required.

Sharp business acumen with excellent communication skills.

Analytical and organized with an attention to detail.

Able to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks within a high volume fast-paced environment.
