Job Description:
We are looking for a Lab Coordinator/Block Retrieval Coordinator (40 hours per week) in our Elmwood Park, NJ location.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 PM
Position Summary:
The Lab Records Coordinator handles requests and subpoenas from attorneys and records retrieval companies for lab/billing records on patients in legal cases. The coordinator must determine that proper authorization has been received for the release of records and locate all records for the individual. The fee for copies of records must be determined and invoiced, payment received, and records sent to fulfill the request. File folders are created for each patient and must be maintained as per schedule requirements. Under the general supervision or a supervisor, the laboratory records coordinator preforms all work in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established company and departmental policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Package and ship boxes
Register and accession cases
Prepare specimens to go to the lab
Handle completed cases, add-on testing and cancellations
Understand and comply with CAP requirements and HIPAA regulations
Responsible for notifying accounts of delays
Maintain patient files
Train others
Review and respond to emails
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience (over two years preferred)
Computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level.
Ability to work and maintain composure in a busy, fast paced environment.
Excellent interaction skills, both in person and by phone.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Knowledge of legal documents, i.e HIPA compliant authorization, power of attorney, letter of administration, letter of representation, subpoena & court order
Physical Demands
Medium work of lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
Responsible for lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects.
Extensive time either sitting and/ or walking to file area.
Working Conditions
Work space is located in a lab area; appropriate compliance required.
Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction and stress
Telephone work required.
Prioritization and multi-tasking required.
Close attention to detain, accuracy and quality.
