Department Summary:

Surpassing network limitations of the past, our Wireless Development organization is building the country’s first cloud-native, standalone 5G wireless network. This is the foundation of a connected world flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of today and the future.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior RF Engineer will report to the local Radio Frequency Planning and Optimization Manager and work with other local cross functional teams within the market.

Key Responsibilities: 

Optimize end-to-end RF performance for 5G networks using modeling, drive tests, and network KPIs.

Determine and configure equipment, power, and gNB/RAN/UE RF solutions, adjusting RF link budgets as needed.

Conduct site candidate evaluations, selection, and site walks while updating performance parameters for ongoing improvements.

Develop solutions for complex RF engineering issues and optimize network capacity with Monte Carlo analysis.

Collaborate with RF Management to refine design criteria, traffic analysis, and operational plans.

Utilize Python, Java, and PowerShell for automation, while coaching and reviewing lower-level engineers' work.

Skills, Experience and Requirements:

Education and Experience: 

BSEE/BSCS degree and at least 5+ years of relevant LTE RF Design working experience, and 6+ years overall wireless experience in Design/Optimization or Operations roles including RF support of Site Acquisition and site Construction teams; or related degree and experience

Skills and Qualifications:

Full understanding of 5G NR Technology, Antenna theory, Propagation models, and O-RAN Architecture

Experience in propagation planning tools like Atoll, Planet

Full proficiency in setting up, calibration, utilization, and data processing of various LTE and 5G design and optimization equipment and software

Working knowledge of Planet or Atoll and experience with model validation/calibrations

Working knowledge of drive test data post-processing, map generation, frequency planning and interference matrix analysis, and site database maintenance, using Windcatcher/Actix/Accuver
