Located just west of Times Square, Manhattan Plaza is a unique community housing 1,689 units, where 70% of our residents are performing artists. It's a home for creativity and culture, surrounded by the vibrancy of New York's arts scene. Compensation:

$145k annual compensation

What You’ll Be Doing:

As the Assistant General Manager (AGM), you will support the General Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of our community. Your leadership will help maintain a space where artists and residents can thrive in a vibrant, affordable environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

Assist in preparing property budgets, financial change forms, and tracking capital expenditures.

Oversee accounts receivable/payable tasks and ensure timely reporting.

Team Management:

Support hiring, training, and evaluating staff across office and maintenance functions.

Foster a team culture that values creativity, diversity, and community.

Community Engagement:

Maintain a welcoming, artistic atmosphere, and resolve resident concerns to foster strong relationships.

Supervise the Resident Relations Department, promoting community satisfaction and retention.

Compliance & Maintenance:

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Fair Housing laws.

Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and capital projects, ensuring our space is safe and welcoming for all.

Qualifications:

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Property management experience, preferably within affordable housing, HUD Section 8, or Mitchell-Lama programs.

Proven experience managing residential communities with diverse populations, including elderly residents, low-income families, and performing artists.

Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in preparing and managing property budgets, asset reporting, and capital expenditures.

Team leadership experience, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff across leasing, maintenance, and administrative functions.

Basic knowledge of housing compliance regulations  such as HUD, Section 8, and Fair Housing laws.

Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset, capable of handling resident relations and conflict resolution.

Experience working in union environments and managing employee relations within unionized workforces is a plus.
