THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Dean of Campus Life as Oxford College's chief housing officer, this position manages all residential education programs, housing budgets, staffing, publications and procedures.

Develops and updates college emergency procedures.

Plans, administers, and monitors the department's revenue, programmatic and personnel budgets as well as other housing-related expenses (utilities, debt service, communications, etc.).

Recommends rental rates following annual survey of like-institutions.

Meets routinely with facility management and custodial staff leaders.

Develops short and long-term renovation plans collaboratively and in conjunction with the facilities manager.

Provides leadership for assessing, planning, and implementing the College's effort to foster a living-learning environment in the residence halls.

Contributes to all external communication/media including brochures, web pages, and mass mailings to residents and to prospective students.

Manages Oxford's portion of the university's on-line room assignment program.

Prepares operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Oversees the damage assessment process.

Enforces the College's on-campus housing requirements.

Approves commuter requests as applicable. Administers campus-wide judicial procedures.

Updates the College Conduct Code.

Selects and trains student judicial officers and trains faculty/staff representatives on the Conduct Board.

Serves as a liaison with the chief judicial officer on the Atlanta campus.

Receives, collects, and follows up on incident and security reports regarding student policy violations.

Coordinates the College's Situation Response Team and program, responding to campus and housing emergencies, and student crisis intervention.

Meets with selected group of campus administrators to assess and track individual students who have special needs.

Produces detailed annual reports.

Develops departmental short and long-term goals and objectives.

Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff and students including an Assistant Director, five Residence Life Coordinators, an Administrative Assistant and approximately 35 Resident Assistants.

Serves as the Oxford College representative on several university-wide committees, such as Emory Campus Life Deans and Directors, Open Expression oversight group, Threat Assessment Team, and a variety of committees and working groups on the Oxford campus.

Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field and five years of professional residence life or student housing experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Prior experience with facility management, room assignment procedures, and budget oversight is preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
