Core Responsibilities:
Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA laws
Escort patients to and from exam/treatment rooms
Triage patients as necessary
Administer vaccines and injections
Record patient data prior to the physician’s visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
Obtain necessary patient records and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures
Assist physicians with exams and a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to injections, dermatologic procedures, pelvic exams, EKGs, eye exams, managing dressings, POC lab tests, and performing x-rays (training provided)
Administer medications orally, vaginally, rectally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and intradermally
Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
Maintain proper disinfection protocols
Schedule patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments
Complete prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic imaging
Complete all forms used by the provider, including but not limited to, growth charts, MPE, pap forms, cytology-pathology forms, etc.
Phone in prescriptions and distribute proper medications as ordered by the provider
Other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, required
Associates degree in Medical Assisting, preferred
One of the following or similar qualification is preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Graduate of Medical Assisting Program (MA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
1-2 years of experience in internal medicine, or primary care settings required
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required
Must pass Avance Care Competency Check (Medical Knowledge Assessment and Vaccination Knowledge Assessment)
