MAIN OBJECTIVES
This individual is responsible for the timely order placement, supply and expedition of raw materials, assemblies, and support services to maintain production at the Spellman HV UK, Pulborough, West Sussex facility. This position will manage select suppliers to ensure on time delivery while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns. Liaising with Engineering, Planning, Sales, and Manufacturing disciplines (team approach), highly focussed on environmental and ethical trading considerations. The Buyer will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Preparation and distribution of weekly expedite reports to selected supply chain partners, ensuring that all respond, and data is entered into company ERP system.
* Analyses exception messages from ERP system, and places Purchase orders ensuring cost effective timely delivery.
* Preparation of document packs (electronic) in support of custom part order needs, (i.e., drawings, BOM’s, Gerber files) ready to submit to supply chain partners.
* Manage selected suppliers to control inventories and ensure timely flow of material.
* Develop working knowledge of commodities and associated supplier base.
* Develop a thorough working knowledge of required ERP system.
* Bring ideas to management and be able to implement necessary process improvements.
* Able and willing to work necessary hours to meet all project deadlines, travel when necessary.
* Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
* Responsibility for adhering to the Company’s ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
* A good standard of education, and computer literate.
* Upholds organisational values, works with integrity and ethically in all situations, and always treats others with respect and consideration, regardless of their status or position.
