Technical Architect - £485 per day via Umbrella - Short term contract - Remote - SCC Flex Contract

We are looking after an experienced Technical Architect to lead the efforts for a critical infrastructure project, who will be responsible for designing and executing a robust, fail-safe shutdown and power restoration plan, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations.

Your responsibilities as the Technical Architect:

  • Lead the technical efforts for the LV Panel Replacement, managing both the shutdown and power restoration processes.
  • Validate operational runbooks prior to scheduled shutdowns, ensuring all steps are documented and approved.
  • Ensure backups of virtual machines, ESX hosts, and configurations. If missing, perform backups to a secondary site before the shutdown.
  • Oversee the shutdown process for virtual machines, physical hardware, and network devices within the ITEC Rooms.
  • Ensure failover of DHCP scopes to Cloud+ is configured and operational.
  • Coordinate with onsite engineers during power restoration and post-reboot checks to support LAN devices.
  • Monitor the performance of all systems once switched to generator power and during the transition back to the main LV panel.
  • Out-of-Hours shifts

As a successful Technical Architect, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect in infrastructure projects, particularly in power and network systems.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization platforms (ESX Hosts, virtual machines) and networking hardware.
  • Experience with backup and recovery processes in high-stakes environments.
  • Ability to manage onsite technical teams and coordinate across departments for smooth project execution.
  • Experience with DHCP scope failover and Cloud+ configurations.
  • Strong documentation skills, particularly in runbook validation.
  • Familiarity with generator power systems and performance monitoring during critical operations.
