Oxbow Academy provides very specialized treatment. We are often the last hope to families in crisis who don't know where to turn. Make a real difference to families in need through joining the Oxbow team as our Middle School Teacher.
Our Middle School Teacher will work as part of our larger team in providing integrated care services to our students, which includes meeting their academic needs. Healthy relationships, novel and challenging experiences, and a relationship-driven approach are how we foster the healing process and create lasting change, and this happens just as much in the classroom as anywhere else.
Our goal is to provide hope where it has been lost, rebuild trust where it has been broken, and help these young men and their families move forward. We need an engaged, creative, and dedicated teacher who will see the value in our students and will help them see it too as they continue their education.

Classroom management
One-on-one instruction and mentoring
Participation/planning of experiential activities
Curriculum development
Requirements
Please note: your resume should include education, work experience, certifications, and licenses
Bachelor's Degree
Current Utah Educator License preferred
Knowledge/Understanding in IEP and 504's
Able to pass criminal investigation background checks
Able to pass motor vehicle record check
Current Utah driver's license (within 30 days of employment)
First Aid & CPR certified (we may provide)
Special Knowledge/Skills
Thorough understanding of school operations'
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret data
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to coordinate campus functions
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to coordinate campus support operations
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
Exercise extreme discretion with regard to client therapeutic processes and explicit confidentiality.
Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process. Fluent in use of technology such as Edgenuity, Canvas, Google Docs, and other technological programs as needed.
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Communicate effectively with students, faculty, therapists, and staff.
Participate in the development of educational improvement plans with parents, therapists, and residential staff.
Assist in use of information systems to maintain records to track the progress of student performance, goals, and academic reward systems
Monitor and report weekly on IEP and Student Goals.
New student checklist
Orientation of students (procedures, etc.)
Classroom placement
Materials
Manage computer ID’s for students and staff
Manage student computer use
Treatment Team
Create Treatment Team notes document each week and psychiatry visit note preparation
Manage information and functionality of Bluestep
Will be assertive, personable, and reliable.
Develops and oversees the Reading Program while developing strategies to improve the programs overall reading efficiency
Comply with federal and state laws and the Utah State Board of Education.
Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
Other duties as assigned.
