Senior Product Manager - Financial Operations Technology

Join our Finance and Operations team in New York

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Financial Operations Technology team and assist with the development and implementation of systems and processes. This team manages the technology that streamlines finance and operations functions, primarily focused on Fund Accounting. The role offers the opportunity to be part of an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging working environment.

What you'll do day-to-day

You'll work closely with business users, software developers, and quality engineers to conceptualize and develop solutions that improve our accounting and investor reporting processes and financial reporting systems. You'll be responsible for understanding business needs, specifying technical requirements, prioritizing product roadmaps, and supporting existing applications. You'll have ample opportunities to partner closely with global leaders on our information technology and Finance and Operations teams.

Who we're looking for

- A bachelor's degree or higher and at least seven years of relevant work experience is required. Experience with fund accounting is a significant plus.

- A willingness to take initiative and dive into details, plus the ability to manage projects to completion, is critical for this role.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical systems users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise a high level of discretion with confidential information are also essential.

- Applicants with a knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking) will excel in this role.

The expected annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $225,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.

At the D. E. Shaw group, we believe the diversity of our employees is core to our strength and success. We are committed to supporting our people in work and in life, which is why we offer benefits such as a family planning and surrogacy program and a charitable gift match to all full-time employees. Additionally, our staff-led affinity groups are pillars of our community, helping to celebrate diversity, promote leadership and development opportunities, and facilitate inclusive mentorship. Members and allies organize a wide range of educational and social programming, from expert talks to film festivals.

The members of the D. E. Shaw group do not discriminate in employment matters on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, pregnancy, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, caregiver status, or any other category protected by law. We are committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and are eager to hear from individuals having a wide range of backgrounds and personal characteristics.

The applicable annual base salary or hourly rate paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors, including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.
