Overview:

The Facilities and Systems Engineer is responsible for managing mechanical equipment projects, troubleshooting systems, and leading automation efforts across facilities. With expertise in mechanical systems, ammonia refrigeration, PLC logic, and automation controls, the engineer drives facility upgrades, enhances energy and production efficiency, and ensures compliance with industry standards. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, the engineer aligns projects with business goals while optimizing operations and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Manage multiple engineering capital projects simultaneously from conception to completion, including defining project scope, schedules, and budgets, identifying resources, managing project risks, and ensuring deliverables meet business goals.

Lead and manage engineering projects, including facility upgrades, ammonia refrigeration systems, energy and production efficiency initiatives, process optimization, and automation system implementations. Projects may involve infrastructure modernization, equipment upgrades, production enhancements, and integrating advanced technologies to streamline operations and improve performance.

Lead and manage engineering projects related to mechanical systems and equipment, including refrigeration systems (ammonia) and automation processes.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and technical requirements, identify project risks and dependencies, and develop project plans that align with business objectives and technical requirements.

Provide project status updates and manage stakeholder expectations by communicating project progress, milestones, and risks.

Ensure all projects comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Manage project budgets and ensure costs are managed within budget.

Manage project documentation, including project plans, technical specifications, and project reports.

Drive strong communication between corporate and fulfillment centers to gain buy-in and alignment on initiatives.

Demonstrate willingness to work flexible hours and travel frequently to the fulfillment centers to provide regular on-site support, guidance, and drive accountability.

Travel requirements may vary and could be up to 75% depending on project needs.

Qualifications:

Completion of a four-year degree program in a related field  Engineering (Ideally in chemical, industrial, or mechanical) 

Minimum of 2 years of managing projects and resources with $100k or greater scope in a fast-paced environment

Minimum of 2 years of experience in production/operational environments  (food production preferred)

Interpersonal skills to work with team members across functions and in both production and corporate environments

Familiarity with mechanical design, piping systems, HVAC, and energy management

Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.)

Analytical proficiency to meet variable needs of the business

Proven expertise in troubleshooting mechanical and automation systems, including experience with control logic, sensors, actuators, and control systems integration.

Strong working knowledge of regulatory standards related to ammonia refrigeration and industrial safety standards.

Experience managing engineering capital projects of $500k or more in scope.

Computer proficiency (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, PowerPoint)

Strong ability to track details and to keep track of projects

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Results-oriented attitude; able to multitask and get things done 

Willingness to embrace change and adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines

Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000 + bonus opportunity
