Description:

CTG is seeking to fill a Mortgage Processing Specialist opening for our client in Cheektowaga, NY.

Location: Cheektowaga, NY

Duration: 12 months

Overview:

The Mortgage Processing Specialist is responsible for processing conventional and government loan requests in compliance with product, underwriting, and investor guidelines. This role ensures a seamless application experience by maintaining effective communication with all parties involved and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain effective communication with customers, brokers, loan officers, and co-workers throughout the loan application process.

Collaborate with internal departments and external organizations to gather necessary documentation (e.g., Verification of Employment, IRS Transcripts, title search, appraisals).

Notify relevant parties of any irregularities concerning mortgage guidelines immediately.

Monitor and update credit reports, appraisals, and documentation to ensure all underwriting conditions are satisfied.

Perform administrative duties, including preparing and mailing commitment letters, reviewing title and homeowners insurance, and updating loan conditions.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

Identify and escalate risk-related issues to management.

Promote a diverse work environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Work closely with internal and external customers, including co-workers, borrowers, and loan officers.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

None

Education and Experience Required:

Associate's degree with a minimum of one year of mortgage industry experience or two years of equivalent work experience, OR three years of equivalent work experience including one year in the mortgage industry.

Six months of specific M&T Bank mortgage processing experience plus an additional 6-12 months in customer service, operations, or financial services.

Proficiency in PC skills with strong knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, email, and PDF software.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Ability to make sound decisions based on available information.

Knowledge of product, investor, and compliance requirements.

Flexibility to adapt to changes in a fast-paced mortgage environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Highly organized with multitasking capabilities and strong attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize workload effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong work ethic, reliability, and dependability.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
