Position Summary:

The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in food preparation, ensuring ingredients are prepped and ready for cooking, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. They play a crucial role in ensuring meals are prepared efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality.

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00 plus tips

Responsibilities:

Prepare and portion ingredients (e.g., chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.) as directed by recipes or chefs.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, including kitchen equipment, utensils, and storage areas.

Monitor food inventory and communicate any shortages to the kitchen manager or chef.

Assist with cooking duties during peak times or as needed.

Properly store food items in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Perform routine kitchen cleaning tasks, such as sanitizing surfaces and taking out the trash.

Follow all food safety and hygiene practices, including correct food handling, labeling, and temperature control.

Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is preferred but not required.

Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), and perform repetitive tasks.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Food handler certification (or ability to obtain one) is preferred.
