Overview:

The Lead Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing support in the general maintenance of all Forklifts, electric/gas/diesel powered equipment as well as all associated tools/machines in the service center.  Responsibilities include documenting all preventative and reactive maintenance work completed while providing additional support to the maintenance department as required.

Sunday through Thursday 9pm - 7:30am

Base rate is $26.00 per / hour

Responsibilities:

*Oversight of a team of Junior Technicians in the performance of general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and upkeep of the entire service center’s equipment.

*Review Computerized Maintenance Management System; assign Junior Technicians to work orders, and reactive/preventative maintenance tasks.

*Perform Quality Control Checks on all maintenance tasks, workorders, and documentation.

*Document and report completion of all facility/material handling equipment maintenance to Supervisor/Manager.

*Troubleshoot and repair extensive electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems (i.e. Electric/Propane Forklifts to include Reach Trucks, Counterbalances, Swing Reach forklifts, Order Pickers, Pallet Trucks, Facility Wire Guidance, Batteries/Battery Chargers etc…).

*Ensure all assigned equipment is fully operational at beginning of shift which includes checking for damage and reporting all damages or malfunctions to supervisor immediately.

*Operate lift trucks, maintenance equipment, ground equipment, and company vehicles.

*Perform extensive maintenance procedures including conducting daily preventative maintenance inspections.

*Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.

*Properly follows critical Lock Out / Tag Out actions while working on equipment.

*Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures; use required Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. safety glasses, welding masks, respirators, and fall protection).

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Support Junior Technicians through equipment maintenance including but not limited to troubleshooting/repairing Yard Trucks, forklifts, and generators, as well as conducting maintenance on industrial batteries and supporting equipment.

Support Junior Technicians through troubleshooting and repair of basic electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems as well as analyze and repair basic system/material handling equipment malfunctions.

Ability to read, write, conduct business related mathematics, analyze data, and utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System as required.

Brings problems to the attention of the supervisor, manager, safety department, or HR manager.

Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.

All other duties as assigned; willing to use industrial power tools such as welders, bandsaws, lathes, presses, bench grinders, etc

Qualifications:

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without accommodation.

Required to stand (stationary position) during scheduled hours. Hours usually include weekends, evenings, and holidays in conjunction with labor regulations.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate using various methods.

Kneeling, stooping, using stairs, reaching, pulling, climbing ladders, and moving weights of 0-25 pounds constantly, 25-40 pounds occasionally and over 40 pounds seldomly, with or without assistance as needed.

Ability to move up to 40 pounds at least 25 feet in distance occasionally with assistance as needed.

Must be comfortable ambulating 30-40 feet in the air.

Must be able to comfortably fit and work in a fall protection harness.

Based on business necessity associates may be required to temporarily work in other locations that require different physical demands.

Required Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of 7 years previous Facility/Material Handling Equipment maintenance experience with 3 years assigned as a Technician 3 equivalent, or 5 years previous Facility/Material Handling Equipment maintenance experience with 5 years previous maintenance experience in a relevant field.

Knowledge of AC/DC Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

Extensive knowledge in gasoline/diesel/propane powered engines and drivetrains.

Advanced understanding of electric motor and related components.

Competent use in Microsoft computer systems to include Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Advanced knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out actions while working on equipment and OSHA safety procedures / use of Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. safety glasses, Welding Helmets, face shields, and fall protection).
