Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer – Severn Trent Water AMP 8 Projects
Location: Sheffield (Travel throughout Severn Trent Water Required)

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Project Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor on a permanent basis, working within the Severn Trent Water framework. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to major water and wastewater projects across the region.
The Role:
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical aspects of water and wastewater projects from design through to installation and commissioning. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure the mechanical engineering elements of projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the mechanical design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of equipment for water and wastewater treatment projects.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, and process engineers to ensure smooth project execution.
Work with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all mechanical works meet Severn Trent Water specifications and industry standards.
Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any mechanical engineering issues that arise.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe working environment on all project sites.
Provide technical input during project planning, risk assessments, and tendering processes.
Manage mechanical budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Requirements:
Experience: Mechanical Engineer experience, preferably within the water, wastewater, or infrastructure sectors.
Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) would be advantageous.
Water Sector Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems related to water treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and design standards.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
Health & Safety: Solid understanding of HSE regulations and experience promoting a safe working environment on site.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
