- £40,000 - £50,000 depending on skills and experience
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the manufacture of current and future products across our entire product range and the full programme life cycle. Working closely with stakeholders across Manufacturing and Engineering you will use your knowledge and experiences to support our manufacturing systems and processes during initial bid, new product introduction, production and repair to ultimately ensure product quality is met within schedule and budget targets.
What you'll be doing:
- Working within our Manufacturing Engineering team to support programmes across the full life cycle
- Creating and improving processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective manufacture of our products, including the use of PDM, ERP & MES tools to create assembly build instructions
- Designing and implementing jigs, tools and fixtures to ease the assembly of product by our Technician
- Developing and maintaining shop floor manufacturing lines, cells and equipment to provide a safe and lean manufacturing environment
- Process mapping, cell layouts, TAKT time calculations, lean thinking, visual management, business case justifications and working with key stakeholders to support a new factory setup
- Reviewing build times & support activity durations, estimating future targets and working to improve processes to achieve production goals according to product specifications and business requirements
- Working to establish a strong Lean culture and leading continuous improvement initiatives to support strategic objectives such as the adoption of Industry 4.0 digital manufacturing
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or time served in a similar role (HNC/Degree)
- Knowledge and understanding of modern Manufacturing Engineering practices, tools and technology gained from experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in interpreting engineering drawings to create manufacturing assembly instructions/standard operating procedures
Desirable:
- Demonstrable success in utilising Lean manufacturing tools and techniques in the context of process improvement, cost savings or waste elimination
- Experience in the application of Continuous Improvement and Root Cause & Corrective Action tools and techniques such as 5Y, 8D, PDCA, FMEA, fish bone and TPM
- Experience gained within an electronics or electro-mechanical environment would be highly advantageous
