The Mechanical Process Engineer is the technical owner of production processes, tools/fixtures and equipment. This role is a hands-on, versatile engineer that will jump onto whatever project has the most impact and deliver great results. The role works closely with our Production, Quality and Product teams, but also interfaces with suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

Develop processes and procedures for high complexity assemblies to meet customers’ requirements.

Design tools, jigs and fixtures for electromechanical assembly processes.

Identify the opportunity, evaluate, procure, install and qualify new automation/capital equipment.

Lead efforts to improve utilization of existing equipment.

Lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions for defects, yield improvement and escapes.

Continuously improve tooling design guidelines and reuse libraries.

Lead the validation and verification of new production tooling/fixturing.

Ensure all equipment has the optimal preventative maintenance defined and establish new procedures.

Troubleshoot equipment issues, working with both internal and external support to resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.

Collect, analyze and drive action from manufacturing data.

Utilize Design of Experiments to establish new processes and drive improvements to existing.

Support production technicians and operators on issues that arise.

Both lead and support process improvement efforts with the team.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Engineering Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or related discipline. Or equivalent experience.

Customer service orientated (internal and external) with excellent written and oral communication skills.

US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands on knowledge of SMT & Through-Hole Soldering, Component Prep, Automated Inspection Systems, Wash & Cleanliness, Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Coating/Staking/Bonding, etc.

High proficiency in part constraints, dimensioning, tolerancing and GD&T.

Demonstrated expertise in designing tools and fixtures.

3D Print Experience

Demonstrated experience selecting and qualifying new automated/capital equipment.

Practical knowledge of equipment and process qualification using IQ, OQ, PQ or similar.

Demonstrated experience setting up and executing DOE’s.

Deep understanding of SPC and manufacturing data analysis.

Strong understanding of material science as it relates to material selection, solder, flux, adhesives, etc.

Experience in an ISO9001 / AS9100 / ISO13485 certified quality management system.

Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-600, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20.

Proficiency in business systems such as MES, PLM, ERP, MRB.
