Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join the Legrand Team in West Hartford, CT.

We are looking for a qualified In-House Paralegal to join the Legal Department in our West Hartford, Connecticut office. The successful candidate will provide high-level support to our attorneys (who work in several different states), and will liaise with internal and external parties, e.g., the Company’s business partners, outside counsel, agencies, and vendors.

Essential Position Functions:

Review contracts and other legal documents related to the Company’s business (such as IP, product risk management and employment-related matters), and communicate and coordinate with external and internal legal counsel as necessary.

Draft, review and update corporate documents, including articles/certificates of incorporation, bylaws, annual report filings, templates and other agreements, and correspondence.

Work closely with the SVP & General Counsel, the Corporate Secretary, and the rest of the legal team, with corporate record-keeping and maintaining and organizing corporate records.

Respond to document requests received from government agencies, and federal and state courts.

Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to the legal team with respect to steps the Company should take to comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Monitor and update the legal team on the status of administrative and litigation proceedings.

Monitor and ensure internal compliance with Company policies and procedures, e.g., confidentiality agreements, NDAs.

Drive Legal Department analytics, case management and outcome tracking in Excel.

Provide support as needed for Legal and Compliance databases.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Education:   Bachelor’s degree is required; Paralegal certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 4-7 years of experience as a paralegal in an in-house setting is required.

Skills/Competencies:

Communication skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of it.

Project management skills: Must have excellent project management, organizational and time management skills, in order to handle multiple priorities.  Must be able to establish processes, to effectively work with multiple attorneys in a virtual legal office. Must have the ability to work independently.

Technical skills: Must be proficient in using Excel.
