Job Summary:

Networks effectively with public and private business and industry to create training and employment sites for program participants.  Negotiates training agreements and coordinates job training activities with employment and training sites.  Assists with the job bank and economic development aspects of the program.  Attends meetings and other forums as needed to represent and market Career Services programs.

Job Duties:

Identifies employers and negotiates on the job training agreements.  Coordinates on the job training activities.  Establishes working relationships with employers to develop training sites and work sites for program participants and program completion. Attends meetings and represents Career Services as needed to foster and maintain working relationships for successful employment development.  Works closely with coordinator of job bank to ensure timely information.  Creates and maintains logs and reports as needed.  Assists with aspects of economic development as needed.  Develops, updates, and maintains a curriculum encompassing the areas of world of work, soft skills, dressing for success, attitudes, and workplace conduct.  Prepares and presents both individualized and group instruction in basic life, work and career skills.  Prepares reports as required.  Attends training and meetings as required.  Assists client/program participant with the application process in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with the applicable program.  Maintains an accurate, up to date case file on each client/program participant.  Maintains an accurate up to date business file for each applicable and potential business for economic development and OJT purposes.  Transports program participants in a lawful manner as needed via a Cherokee Nation vehicle including tribal and GSA vehicles.  Monitors job sites, training sites and participant’s progress to ensure compliance with program requirements, written plans and applicable laws.  Works with individuals of all backgrounds and barriers.

Specifically for TERO Coordinator, Jobs/Business Development:

Reviews new applications for TERO Certification.  Ensures that TERO Certification application is complete.  Reviews documents provided by Business/Contractor to make sure they have provided all the required documents for TERO Certification. Contacts and meets with Business/Contractor seeking TERO Certification.  Monitors various Project sites to ensure compliance with Cherokee Nation TERO Law.  Conducts Wage and Hour interviews to ensure workers are receiving correct amount of pay according to Davis Bacon wage rates as established by the Davis Bacon Act.  Reviews certified payroll to verify reported amounts are the same as provided by employee during Wage and Hour Interview.  Works with Contractors to refer Native Americans for employment.  Conducts investigation of possible violation of EEOC Law. If violation is found works with employee to meditate a settlement with employer.  Works with Business and Industry partners/Career Techs to develop vocational training and customized short term training programs and classes for clients.  Recruits and works with clients on in-house training programs.

Other duties may be assigned.

No supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications:

COORDINATOR JOB BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT I

 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

No additional experience required.

COORDINATOR JOB BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT II

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional two (2) years of experience in a related field.

COMPUTER SKILLS 

An individual should know Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
