Meridian Business support is working on behalf of a client based in Horsham, they require a highly experienced, Commercial Waste Manager, ideally with some sales and marketing experience, along with experience managing a small team.

Start date: 28th October 2024
Location: Horsham
Hours: Monday to Friday 37 hours a week
Salary: £37,747 per annum (pro rata)
Duration: Maternity cover – 7 months

Role responsibilities

Responsible for developing the income generation recycling and waste collections services to ensure that the best possible return on the resources, including revised scheduling programmes to incorporate new business.
Identifying areas of development or improvement for new or existing services whilst ensuring we maintain emphasis on customer service.
Responsible for building the new food waste business and ensuring this is implemented successfully.
Responsible for developing and promoting the Commercial Waste brand awareness around the various services we offer.
Project planning on digital or operational transformation projects within the department remit.
Liaise with the Waste & Recycling and Litter & Cleansing operational team to ensure services are run in the most efficient manner.
To liaise and communicate with a range of customers either through written or verbal communication including leading on client negotiations.
To ensure that contract generation is in line with agreed targets from initial customer contact, visit provision of quote and sales conversion.
Responsible as the overall account manager for new business to make sure all elements of individual contract are running smoothly.
To conduct all aspects of the informal and formal stages of all performance management procedures for the office team, including recruitment, appraisals, attendance management, disciplinary, including the preparation of cases requiring escalation to Senior Management.The Ideal candidate will have

Management experience
Good awareness of Health and Safety legislation in the workplace
Experience of working in a Customer Service environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of customers and stakeholders from different backgrounds

Income generation and the ability to develop new income strategies

Good organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads in an efficient and timely manner
