The Role
We’re working with one of the UK’s leading data centre construction companies, and they’re looking for a talented Pre-Construction Manager to join their team in Manchester. This role is perfect for someone with a strong MEP, construction and data centre background, who can bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and a people-first approach to the table.

In this role, you’ll be leading the pre-construction phase of significant data centre projects for some of the biggest names in tech – think Microsoft, Amazon, Bet365, and Google. You’ll be the linchpin between the client and the project team, handling everything from budgeting and estimation to risk management and technical oversight. But more than that, this role requires someone who’s comfortable forging strong client relationships, taking the time to understand their needs, and ensuring every project gets off to the best possible start.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the pre-construction phase tof data centre projects, overseeing estimation, budgeting, and delivery strategies.

* Build and maintain strong client relationships, spending time with clients to understand their business and ensure seamless collaboration.

* Provide technical leadership across all aspects of the project, ensuring risk management and reporting are handled effectively.

* Work closely with teams across estimating, work-winning, and project management to ensure the smooth progression of each project.

* Be prepared for both UK and European travel as part of the role, visiting clients at their offices and ensuring a high level of service.

What We’re Looking For:

* A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Pre-Construction Manager role or similar, with a background in MEP and data centre construction.

* Proven experience working on major projects – ideally within the data centre or critical systems environment.

* In-depth knowledge of cooling technologies, power systems, and energy-efficient solutions for large-scale data centres.

* Proficiency in management software, CAD, and BIM would be a plus.

* Leadership skills – the ability to guide cross-functional teams and keep projects on track.

* Someone with a personable approach, who enjoys building relationships with clients and thrives in client-facing roles.

* Flexibility for UK and European travel as needed, ensuring strong client engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
