Lead Maintenance Engineer

Location: St Neots

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift: Monday to Friday

Step into a pivotal leadership role as a Lead Maintenance Engineer with a renowned company in the heavy industry sector. This role offers the opportunity to oversee both reactive and planned maintenance activities, ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of critical equipment. You’ll lead a skilled maintenance team and collaborate closely with production to minimise downtime and enhance overall performance.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee the maintenance of all critical plant and machinery, including both reactive and preventive tasks
Lead the planning and implementation of scheduled maintenance activities to optimise operational uptime
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to troubleshoot recurring issues and implement corrective actions
Ensure that all maintenance activities are documented accurately, maintaining up-to-date records for audits and operational transparency
Manage and coordinate external contractors for specialist maintenance or major overhauls, ensuring all work is completed to high safety and quality standards
Collaborate with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Take responsibility for safety protocols, ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Train, mentor, and lead a team of maintenance engineers, fostering a culture of teamwork and technical excellence
Participate in the design, upgrade, installation, and relocation of machinery as required, ensuring all equipment operates to optimal standards
Person Specification

A recognised engineering qualification (electrical or mechanical), with strong multiskilled knowledge
Proven experience in a senior maintenance role, ideally within a heavy industry or similar manufacturing environment
Extensive knowledge of reactive and planned maintenance practices
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices in maintenance
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to working with cross-functional teams
