Payroll Team Leader

Location: West Malling
Salary: £50,000
Job Type: Full-time

As the Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the payroll team in the day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of payroll for all employees. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in managing payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and lead a team of payroll administrators, providing guidance, training, and support.
Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including salary, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.
Ensure compliance with company policies, payroll regulations, and statutory requirements.
Manage payroll data entry, calculations, and reconciliation, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate.
Handle complex payroll queries and escalations, providing solutions and ensuring employee satisfaction.
Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to maintain employee records and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Assist in the preparation of payroll reports for management and support internal/external audits.
Implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
Stay updated on payroll legislation and ensure the team adheres to changes in tax laws and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll administration, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Solid understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, and statutory requirements.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification is an advantage.
