Assistant- Government - Relations - Education - Publishing -International Affairs

Our client, a leading global educational publishing company is currently seeking an International Government Relations Assistant based in London (FULLY REMOTE from home or can work in the London office 1 day per week).

  • They require you to support the team on all aspects of internal and external Government Relations outreach and communications, helping to shape the companies awareness, reputation, and profile across our international markets.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of events, ensuring compliance with regulations and protocols, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on logistics, reporting and communication tasks and arrangements.
  • Maintaining and updating the stakeholder engagement systems and structures - including stakeholder contact database, policy and activity tracker, and events calendar.
  • Drafting high-level policy briefings, ministerial correspondence, and stakeholder meeting preparation
  • Efficiently manage and maintain team calendars, ensuring optimal time management and scheduling.
  • Organise and book meetings, including coordinating logistics, preparing agendas, and distributing relevant materials.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal communications, ensuring clear and timely dissemination of information across departments.
  • Coordinate and maintain relationships with membership organizations, including event coordination.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation as required.
  • Support various administrative tasks and projects as needed to ensure smooth operations within the team

Key Skills/Knowledge Required

  • 2-3 years of experience in a communications, policy or government relations role
  • Proven experience in event planning and coordination, preferably in a government or public sector context
  • Good knowledge of international affairs, gained from a previous role in government, think tank or a relevant in-house or agency role
  • Good knowledge of the workings of international multilateral organisations and experience of working within a team on international government relations issues, national government relations issues, whether supporting clients (agency) or within an in-house context.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a busy and fast moving set of issues and responsibilities
  • Good understanding and experience of working across broader communications disciplines (eg social media)
  • Understanding of global education issues, especially of the UK education policy landscape
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detailed oriented and strong organisational skills
