Hours: Vary - include evenings, weekends and public holidays

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook/Chef to join our community pub to be responsible for managing all kitchen operations with support from volunteer and paid staff. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering traditional pub food with a focus on quality, consistency and cleanliness. As sole cook, you will take charge of food preparation and cooking following clear guidelines from our partners to produce award winning results! We are a 5 star hygiene rated establishment so you will be central to keeping to these high standards whilst maintaining a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare and cook a variety of pub-style dishes, including daily specials, ensuring high quality and taste consistency.

* Manage all aspects of the kitchen independently, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and cleaning.

* Monitor inventory of kitchen supplies and ingredients, working with our partner placing orders as needed to avoid shortages and manage stock

* Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including proper food storage, hygiene, and sanitation.

* Maintain the kitchen equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.

* Work with our team to develop and implement menu items that reflect the preferences of the local community.

* Handle customer feedback and make adjustments to menu offerings as needed.

* Coordinate with the pub’s front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.

* Work efficiently under pressure, especially during busy periods, while maintaining a positive attitude.

* Ensure the kitchen is cleaned at the end of each shift and all areas are left in a safe condition.

Skills & Qualifications:

Kitchen

Proven experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a pub or similar setting

Good knowledge of the required standards of baking, cooking and grilling techniques.

Good knowledge of all aspects safe food handling

Ability to work independently andmanage all aspects of the kitchen as a lone worker.

Excellent knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and food safety regulations.

Ability to retain calm under pressure and deliver a consistently high quality product

Flexibility to adapt to a varied and dynamic working environment.

Basic knowledge of stock control and inventory management.

Evidence of Food Hygiene qualifications to level 3 or commitment to work towards this.

Evidence of Allergen Awareness training

Ability to pick up new recipes and cooking processes

Ability to follow clear recipes and meal assembly techniques

General skills

* Good communication skills and a customer-friendly approach.

* Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

* Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment

* Organisational skills

* Time management skills

* Reliable

* Strong verbal and communication skills

* Ability to solve problems quickly
