Main purpose of the role
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our in-house Legal team. The main focus of the role is to provide legal advice and support on a range of legal matters, as well as ensuring the efficient and effective handling of construction and commercial disputes.
Reporting into the General Counsel, the successful candidate will be joining a supportive and collaborative Legal and Compliance team. They will be working on a range of matters, across different jurisdictions, encompassing various practice areas. Area of focus will include;
* Providing legal advice and support on a wide range of legal matters, including the opportunity to draft, review and negotiate construction and commercial agreements.
* Use a range of persuasion and influencing skills to secure strategic outcomes that are compliant with the law as well as further the strategic direction of the business.
* Commission and manage the provision of external legal advice, where necessary, ensuring that panel solicitors are provided with all necessary information to enable them to provide advice that is accurate, targeted and which represents the best value for money.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of best-in-class practice, policy and procedures of the Legal and compliance team.
* Developing and delivering toolkits and legal awareness training on various issues to educate colleagues across the business on the legal process such as how to manage disputes, use precedent documentation, how to avoid legal issues and ensure regulatory compliance.
* Collaborating with and supporting various project work groups to ensure projects align with legal/regulatory requirements.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience
The ideal candidate will;
* have 2+ years Post Qualified Experience with substantial legal work experience in litigation and/or corporate and/or commercial work
* be UK qualified and have right to work in the UK and be able to travel across the UK on occasion.
