Responsibilities:
Staff Nurses are responsible for providing direct nursing care to end-user clients within identified clinical scope of services for the SPS in an either in an independent service delivery capacity or within a team environment.
Candidates must be able to responsibly triage medical conditions, respond quickly and calmly to medical emergencies for the population and geographic area identified within service agreements, and accurately analyzes medical history and conditions to address minor illnesses, conditions, and first aid delivery needs and to provide appropriate personalized health counseling to individual clients to improve health outcomes.
Candidates must be able to identify population health trends to develop and deliver appropriate health education seminars (if directed), determine appropriate formulary products (if working independently), and identify service delivery opportunities to improve population health.
Must follow FOH policies and SOPs.
Tasks:
Perform approved FOH health services including (but not limited to):
Initial care and treatment for on-the-job injuries and illnesses
First aid response for onsite medical emergencies (including use of portable automated external defibrillators: AEDs, and intravenous fluid resuscitation in selected locations)
Medical surveillance activities
Walk-in care provision
Preventive care to include immunizations, blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring, and other pre-illness diagnostic activities and health screenings
Performance of waived testing (point of care) laboratory procedures and responsive activities
Provision of short-term treatments prescribed by a personal physician, such as periodic bed rest, blood pressure monitoring, finger stick glucose monitoring, allergy immunotherapy, and other authorized treatments and injectable medication administration
Performance of comprehensive Health Risk Assessments
Health education
Health counseling
Provision of health risk reduction seminars (if directed) focused on core health risks
Medical screening and promotion of good health and fitness practices to eligible FedStrive Program participants
Respirator Fit Testing
Perform data collection for national quality indicators (as directed) using the required data collection tools.
Qualifications:
Education/Credentials/Experience:
Graduation from NLN accredited school of nursing (Diploma, AD, or BSN)
RN licensure with Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health care provider certification - May require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training
1 year experience in occupational health or related experience such as public health/community health, outpatient clinic, emergency department or ambulatory healthcare, or physician office nursing
At least one year experience (within last 5 years) in acute care setting
May require the following certifications (depending on specific site needs): CAOHC Certification, NIOSH spirometry training/certification, ACLS certification
Specified Skills Requirements:
Excellent communication and organization skills and ability to perform identified nursing services.
Must be competent in basic Microsoft Office suite programs to develop adequate site activity reports and perform accurate and legible data collection activities as directed. MUST be able to pass competency review and maintain ability to perform physical requirements of the job (including physical requirements of emergency response).
