Humboldt Sawmill Company,LLC (HSC) is looking for a Planer Feeder to join our team in Scotia, CA. This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance.
The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C(phone number removed)) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

Responsibilities:
Feed unprocessed lumber into the planer by operating infeed hoist and all other related equipment that transports lumber to the planer.
Help with planer set up
Operate infeed hoist and all related equipment that transports lumber to the planer
Perform all duties in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s standards for safety, quality, productivity, and environmental protection
Perform alignment and preventative maintenance on planer and feed table
Communicate with other machine operators
Inspect planer infeed area every day. Recognize possible problems and reports them to team leader, supervisor or maintenance as required
Keep work area clean
Communicate regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Three years related experience and/or 6 months training to include at least one week of training at a Planer Operator’s School; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and understand instructions and memos
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
Subject to varying weather conditions including rain, snow, ice, wind, heat and cold
The employee must be able to use arms and legs to lift and descend themselves on and off a lift multiple times throughout the day.
Regularly use hands and wrists to operator levers and steering wheel as well as use feet and ankles to operate pedals
The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, and vibration and frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
Personal Protective equipment is required.
