Machinist – CNC and Manual

Contract – Initially 4-months

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Vehicle Development team on an ongoing contract basis, initially 4-months. Our client is a globally renowned automotive leader, known for its cutting-edge technology and high-performance vehicles. You will play a critical role in supporting the development of prototype vehicles, components, and rigs, working with some of the most advanced materials in the industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Machinist:

Execute high-standard machining tasks as requested by the Vehicle Development workshop teams.
Collaborate closely with the Vehicle Development build team to construct high-quality, reliable prototype vehicles, bucks, and rigs to facilitate the testing and development of new vehicle technologies.
Effectively manage and coordinate multiple machining work requests, prioritising tasks to meet tight deadlines.
Maintain and care for all machining plant equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
Be flexible and open to working additional hours, including weekends, when required to meet work request deadlines and project schedules.
Adhere to company Health and Safety policies at all times, ensuring a safe working environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required for the Machinist:

Extensive experience in machining one-off and small-batch parts using both CNC and manual milling and lathe machines.
Preferred knowledge of motor vehicle architecture and operation.
Experience working with up-to-date metallic and composite materials, ideally within the high-performance automotive or aerospace industries.
Competency in computer literacy, including the ability to use CATIA CAD for viewing engineering drawings.
Ability to interpret 2D engineering specifications and technical drawings.
Skilled in self-checking and inspecting completed machined parts for accuracy and quality.
Engineering-based Apprenticeship or equivalent training, providing strong competency in general engineering workshop skills.
