A well established groundworks contractor based in Northamptonshire are looking for an experienced groundworks quantity surveyor to join their team due to an increase in workload. They have a full order full over the coming months and are expanding their commercial team.

Client Details

This client work across the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire/Cambridgeshire area and work alongside housing developers both large and small.

Description

This role will involve:

Cost Estimation & Budget Management: Accurately estimate project costs for residential groundworks, including excavation, foundations, drainage, and landscaping. Develop and manage budgets to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.

Tendering & Procurement: Prepare detailed tender documents and lead the procurement process for materials, subcontractors, and equipment. Negotiate contracts to secure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Contract Administration: Manage and administer contracts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and resolving any disputes that arise. Monitor progress and certify payments to contractors and suppliers.

Risk Management & Cost Control: Identify potential risks related to groundworks, such as unforeseen site conditions, and implement cost control measures to mitigate these risks. Regularly update forecasts and financial reports to reflect actual site conditions.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with architects, engineers, site managers, and clients to ensure the groundworks phase aligns with overall project objectives. Communicate effectively to maintain strong relationships and facilitate smooth project delivery.

Profile

To be considered for this role you need to have a background in groundworks, ideally on housing developments or infrastructure. You must be able to hit the ground running in a new role and be able to work independently whilst being supported by a commercial team. This role would suit someone who has 3-4 years experience in the sector or someone who has more experience and looking to step into a more senior role.
