Mechanical Design Engineer (Pressure Vessels)

Derbyshire

Salary: Up to £60,000 (DOE)

25 Days + Bank holidays

The Company:

Our client delivers both individual product design and large turnkey projects into process plant projects across various sectors, including food, beverage, and pharmaceuticals.

This role of Mechanical Design Engineer will see you working within the design team, to support them with design, engineering analysis and compliance of their products.

You will be joining a team of 5 Engineers in the department that specialise in the design of Pressure Vessels, Boilers and Storage Tanks for their range of clients and industries.

As a growing small to medium sized company, they hire 35 employees across the business, and are experiencing a huge growth of incoming projects, which has directly led to the teams within growing in size. Last year the business experienced a turnover of £4.2 Million, growing from £3.4 Million 3 years prior.

The company mainly works with clients all-across the UK, and occasionally worldwide as such the work to design and manufacture codes such as PD5500, ASME VIII, and PBSR etc.

The Role:

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a focus on pressure vessel design and implementation, including Piping, Insulated/jacketed piping design.

This role involves ensuring the integrity of pressure vessels, boilers and storage tankers through rigorous calculations and technical file preparation for submission to Notified Bodies.

Your Responsibilities will include:

Using SolidWorks to create Concept designs, Product designs and manufacturing drawings.
Use PV Elite for design calculations, analysis, and evaluation.
Carry out hand calculations for supporting parts to vessels.
Verify integrity of pressure vessels and manufactured items.
Produce calculations and technical files
Identify vessels falling under the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED).
Evaluate Hazard analysis, Essential Safety Requirements (ESR), and Particular Material Appraisal (PMA).
Benchmark and evaluate drawing work by less experienced team members.
Approve and check details on production drawings.
Review updates to pressure vessel standards and ensure compliance.
About the candidate:

Mechanical Engineering Degree.
Previous experience in mechanical design engineering
Proficiency in PD5500 or ASME vessel design calculations.
Experience with both PV Elite and hand calculations.
Experienced with Solidworks or a similar CAD Package
Someone who has a willingness to learn new products or industry
Ability to run multiple projects simultaneously
Keen eye for detail
