Responsibilities:

The Lead Respiratory Therapist assists the Respiratory Leadership Team in the daily management of department. The duties includes responsibilities such as completing daily assignments; place calls to replace a therapist due to a call-outs; help Supervisor with a monthly schedule; overseeing cleaning and assembly of respiratory equipment; perform weekly inventory  of a necessary disposable supply and tanks and report to Supervisor of any equipment needed; provide clinical support to a staff therapists.

The compensation range for the role is $38.89-$44.71 (CRT) + $2/hr Lead pay and $43.42 - $55.00 (RRT) hourly + $2/hr Lead pay.

The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.  When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field of study preferred.                                             

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years’ experience as a respiratory therapist.                            

Required Certification/Registration: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the NBRC required. NYS Respiratory Therapist License.  BLS Certification as a Healthcare Provider mandatory. Must have STABLE and NRP within 6 months of hire or transfer. Must be able to participate in NICU transport within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Physical Requirements:   Moderate walking, standing and sitting.  Some bending and lifting.  Manual dexterity.  Must have the capabilities of sight, speech and hearing enabling one to communicate with others and perform the essential duties of this position.                                                                                

Working Conditions:

Will be exposed to infectious patients and potential hazards resulting from direct handling of inflammable and explosive gas.  Frequent work in critical care areas of the Medical Center. 

Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility.  No routine exposure to hazards.

For Remote and Hybrid Remote positions:   If deemed operationally necessary, position may be required to report in and work on-site.

Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
