Under the direction of the supervisor the group leader performs a wide variety of duties to train, coordinate and direct environmental services workers through out the facility. Routinely assigned to cleaning assignments.

Responsibilities:

1. Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. Responds to customer requests in a professional and timely manner.

2. Trains/orients new employees, assigns work schedules. Acts as resource for staff with any operational questions.

3. Organizes, directs and assigns work activities for the team of environmental services workers. Provides input to supervisor regarding staff?s performance. Identifies and communicates any issues in a timely fashion.

4. Participates in the work activities of the team as necessary. Functions as a housekeeper or project person as needed and completes special projects as assigned.

5. Monitors and adjusts schedules for proper coverage. Maintains daily attendance records of environmental services workers.

6. Ensures that safety rules are followed, materials and equipment are safely stored and that unsafe working conditions are reported.

7. Trains staff to safely operates all equipment according to manufacturer specification.

8. Consistently leads by example.

9. May conduct rounds to ensure staff is in their area and performing their assigned duties.

10. Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development as outlined in performance review.

11. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.

12. DIRECTION OF OTHERS

12.1 May provide daily direction to up to 22 environmental service workers per shift.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

HS diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE

Customer service experience and one year in a supervisory capacity preferred. Minimum of one year EVS experience required. Knowledge of cleaning procedures and the ability to teach the procedures; supervisory instructional techniques preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Able to read, write and speak English; able to perform simple mathematical calculations, additions, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Position will float primarily between days and evenings but an occasional night shift will be required.
