Are you a mental health professional that enjoys working on challenges preventing students from attending school? Join the Marin team and become a mental health counselor for youth today!
As the Support Counselor you will be part of a close knit multi-disciplinary team working together to connect youth and families to long sustainable resources and deliver high quality services. You will be responsible for providing counseling and case management services to a case load of 6-8 youth at a time. Support Counselors can expect to travel between 50-60% to meet with youth and families to provide services primarily within Marin County, including in their homes, schools, and various other local settings.

School Wraparound is a community-based program in partnership with Marin County school districts that provides time-limited, family-centered, strengths-based, and outcome-oriented mental health services to students and families struggling to succeed in school settings. Team members work with children and families providing services almost exclusively in the community: in families’ homes, schools, other community locations.

Responsibilities:
Provide counseling and case management services for enrolled youth and their families
Support client and family to connect to natural supports and community-based resources
Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as needed
Provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at client homes, schools, and other community locations
Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when necessary
Complete mental health notes and other paperwork and complete service tracking documentation
Assist with planning arrangements and transportation for school, therapy appointments, and court hearings as needed
Attend team meetings, weekly trainings, individual and group supervisions, and adhere to clinical best practices
Participate in providing emergency on-call response as scheduled
Qualifications:
REQUIRED
Education/Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree OR
Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field
Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evening hours as needed
Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of time
Must be at least 21 years of age
Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination
PREFERRED
Bilingual in Spanish
Experience implementing family-focused services
Experience providing strong behavioral interventions with youth in community-based setting
SKILLS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE
Ability to complete documentation promptly and efficiently
Experience brainstorming coping strategies with youth and families
Skills in cultivating and maintaining relationships with community members, county partners, and other mental health providers
Schedule:
Full-time; Tuesday - Saturday, 9am - 5:30pm
Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings, scheduled ahead of time
1 week availability for on-call emergency response, once every quarter
Hybrid; provide in-person services & complete documentation remotely
Benefits:
Starting at $26.52 - $29.02 per hour, commensurate with experience
Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
Salary increases each year
Mileage reimbursement
Stipends provided to staff members participating in the emergency on-call shifts
5 weeks of Paid Time off and 11 Paid Holidays
