Under direct supervision of the Director, the incumbent implements the core policies and procedures of the Patient Transport Department. The incumbent is responsible for payroll, verification of attendance records, keeping up-to-date on in service training, competencies, maintenance and inventory of equipment (i.e., office equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers). Relief dispatcher on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities:

Provide coverage and support for his/her team at times of staff shortages or crisis to maintain performance levels. Assist in the completion of performance evaluations by providing managers with feedback. Ensures adequate work force of transporters based on volume and related personnel demands. Provides effective coaching and mentoring to all patient transport aides and dispatchers. Responsible for the Training and development of new employees' skills as patient transport aides.

Logs support calls into the operating system and assigns support tasks in a timely manner. Monitors equipment requests logs, ensuring that trip request information is accurate for the hospital's patient flow.

Participate in developing and revising department policies and procedures and determining short & long term operational goals for the department. Meet with members of Nursing Staff and services departments to address operational issues.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

Minimum of one to two years of supervisory and administrative experience.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 

Hospital experience.
