Major Position Responsibilities:

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite. This role will be on-site.

Summary:

Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages the development, implementation and administration of programs and activities within the nondestructive testing function of the organization.

Oversees that results are documented in accordance with the specification.

Manages the work of personnel who utilize ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.

Reviews findings of equipment and system performance checks and recommends corrective actions.

Administers and oversees nondestructive testing procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.

Leads, oversees and tracks NDT training as needed. 

Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & Senior Leadership.

Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers

Basic Qualifications:

Education:

Associate's Degree and 7 - 8 years' experience, or, Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. 

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Major: Science Degree in NDT or equivalent training and experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Technical Expertise

Problem-Solving Skills and Time Management Skills

Manual dexterity.

Non-destructive testing

Required Newar Vision Acuity and Color Perception

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Additional Certifications: 

NAS 410 Certification Level 2: State issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve Level I or Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements

Preferred: 

Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation. 

Physical Demands:

Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.

Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.

May need to stand for long periods of time.

This position is Safety Sensitive.

Travel Requirements

Less than 25% travel likely.
